BARANTI DAM

Baranti is a small, and scenic place. There is a 2 km long irrigation project dam, located between two small hillocks, Muradi Hill and Baranti Hill. Baranti is in the vicinity of Ramchandrapur Irrigation Project. One gets a grand view of the reservoir from Baranti.

It is a place where one can take a break from drudgery and daily monotony and simply rejuvenate one's mind and soul. It is part of the wonderful Rarh countryside.

Baranti is also a picnic spot where people from nearby areas, such as Asansol, come for a day-long picnic. Preferred season: winter.

Maithon is a small town  in Dhanbad ,district  of Jharkhand. Maithon dam situated on the banks of river Barakar.Near maithon dam just 2 km away a femous temple of Maa Kalyaneswari which is In burdwan district of west bengal.The name has been derived from Maithan or Mai-Ka-Than(Hindi) or Ma-Er-Than(Bengali), the "than" being an apa-bhransha or a local pronunciation of Sanskrit/Bengali "Sthan" for "place".

Site tour of maithon

The famous Kalyaneshwari mandir is situated about 25 km from the  Asansol station. It is considered to be an ancient temple, which is as much as 500 B.C old. The presiding deity of this temple is Maa Kalyaneshwari, a form of Goddess Shakti or Kali. The temple is situated near to the  tourist spot Maithan. It is visited by thousands of tourists in a year.
